| Department Name: | Duke Center for Human Genetics, Cardiovascular Sta | | Position: | Postdoctoral Associate | | Description: | The Duke Center for Human Genetics (CHG) has an immediate opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow in Statistical Genetics/Genetic Epidemiology working in the laboratory of Svati H. Shah, MD MHS. Dr. Shah’s research focuses on the genetic and molecular epidemiology of cardiovascular disease using diverse “omic” platforms in large cardiovascular biorespositories, to identify novel biomarkers of cardiovascular disease risk. The Duke CHG provides a strong infrastructure for human genetics research, including core laboratories for molecular genetics and sample banking, clinical ascertainment, and statistical genetics. Dr. Shah’s grant, which would be the primary focus of the postdoctoral fellow, will perform genetic mapping in cardiovascular disease and diabetes, using genomewide association studies integrated with metabolomic profiling in a large human cohort of cardiovascular disease. | | Requirements: | The applicant should be familiar with both commercial statistical software packages (e.g. SAS) and freely available statistical-genetic software. Flexibility in using a variety of computer platforms is necessary. The applicant should be able to work independently and be interested in applying and developing novel approaches for analyzing genome-wide SNP, metabolomic, proteomic, CNV (structural variation), gene expression and epigenetic data. Downstream translational research applications include the integration of genomic, proteomic, metabolomic and environmental exposure data.
